25-Aug-2005 "Traditions also speak of the original founders of the civilization of Cambodia, the demi-gods Kaundinva and Kambu, who lived in the time of the myth before history began, They came separately, we are told, by boat from across the sea. When Kaundinya first sought to land he was attacked by a beautiful Naga princess whom he overwhelmed and later married. Likewise, the story of Kambu also ends with his marriage to the daughter of a Naga king: 'Kamba married her and founded a kingdom in the river valley. The people were called "Kambujas", or the children of Kambu. In time the name changed to Cambodge and then to Cambodia."
